Hi guys! I hope exams went well. You all read my bit about SMG in This Week last week – we're opening up a common room in October. There's a motion coming up which is making an officer to be responsible for that. Trip to Lindisfarne tomorrow; bring sun cream and hats. We're reopening the CRC referendum as we haven't got quoracy. I had college council but there was very little affecting us. On the AUT issue, some of you are probably quite worried; most lecturers seem to be marking but not submitting the marks to the departments. On June 8th the University will have a better picture of how many lecturers are submitting marks. The AUT have rejected the 13.1% deal offered. It could be a while before it's resolved. May we ask you not to petition against individual lecturers as most of them are trying not to disrupt things too much at the moment. Keep things genial. Any questions?
Hello. Firstly just a round up of what I've been up to. The biggest thing is the room allocation pack. It's available in the Bailey Room. The trophy cabinet has been reinstated in Haughton. Trophies will go in there this week. I've met a man about the curtains for the Bar Overspill. The price I've got for them is about half what we were quoted last time. We can't bring a motion until we have a fundraising event organised. Some progress has been made on the Gazebo. I've tried to start up a Garden Work party so if anyone wants to do some work in the garden contact me. I've set up a day for work on the Principal's walk which is Wednesday the 14th. Formal is on the 14th and an an online sign-up starts Thursday evening. I will start sorting out the SMG flat allocation this week. I have Library Committee this week. Finally, Lost Property is on the display at the back of the hall. Ben Harrison: The Croquet Set appears to have gone missing. Josh Heald: David Clough borrowed if for his birthday. Where is the Principal's Walk? Katie Wray: Just through the gate.
Since last meeting the main thing I've been doing is promoting DSU StressLess. We ran a tai chi session. I have £200 to give in travel bursaries this term. Let me know where you're going, for how long, and the total cost, and then we'll look at it. Deadline is Monday 12th June. I'm trying to arrange things for Freshers' Week so if you want to get involved in College welfare let me know. There was some confusion about Livers-Out officer and LGBTa rep but they'll be elected in the next meeting. There will also be Male and Female Assistant Welfares. Livers-Out packs should be available soon. This thursday is Sexual Health training at 2pm. I'm leaving before the end of term so if you need me contact me before the 17th. Any questions?
Hello. Since the last meeting I've been going about the main JCR finance business none of which is that interesting. Ben Harrison: Papers are going missing from the Bailey Room.
OK, not a huge amount going on. Good news; the University is going to have entirely Green electricity from October for at least two years. There's a DSU UGM in Van Mildert on 12th June where they're going to put back the Nestle motion. Aside from that Revolver's going on on Saturdays and there's a Pop night on Wednesday at DSU.
Erm... since I last spoke to you the college photos have gone ahead. I still have some photos in the flat. I've had meetings about stash; the deadline's kind of gone but I can take them until 10 tonight but not afterwards. The deadline for yearbooks has been extended until Tuesday. The shop has been ticking over like usual. We now have Ginsters in more regularly. We now have more Fairtrade stuff sold, including tea and coffee. They're for sale at the back.
Erm., Since last time lots of planning has been happening; friday is john's day and the summer ball is the thursday after that. The plans for the route for the Principal's walk are coming along. Summer ball tickets are being sold this week. That's about it. Is there a timetable for John's Day? Alice: Yes, there will be; maybe even in This Week.
Hello! Not a lot to say really except for... photocopier...photocopier...photocopier...photocopier...photocopier.... Sorry about the poor copies; it now appears to be broken, so I'm looking for alternatives at the moment until we get a new one, which should be reasonably soon.
Hello everybody. Bar tomorrow night, great event: jungle fever. We'll have games starting at 8:30. John's Day. We are open from 11 in the morning until 12 at night. There's no need to rush. We will not serve you if you're drunk. Please take nothing wet into the bar. Look out for the next event which will be an acoustic night. I have a large selection of drinks here.
Since the last time we met I and my exec have been organising events. Everybody's quite shattered, I've been busy trying to do lots of things with John's Hall students...We had the joint execs meal which was very enjoyable, even though I could only make the first half hour! Looking forward to John's Day; there will be Cranmer people around then. We had a Cranmer vs., John's B football match, which John's B won.
Not really doing anything very much at the moment. If there are any finalists considering staying on, get in touch. Any questions?
Right... Erm.. We'll start with the good news; since I took over in November we have taken £600 of profit. However, as you notice, it's now closed. Toastie Bar has grown up from something informal, so it's never had any official written H&S procedures, so we now have to come into line with all the procedures that come into line with selling hot food. College officers saw that we weren't. The major problem is that 28 kitchen is not ideal for doing Toastie bar at all. So ideally we would like to move it but there's nowhere else. I'm liasing with Martin Hodgetts and Alison Bradshaw to see if we can run it from 28. I'm writing procedures and other boring bits, and we will have to undergo some training. We have sorted out the money issues; we will now be in line with VAT legislation, which we weren't before. The money will go to the JCR account through Felix but it will be reserved for us. Hopefully we will be open again before the end of term if we can. Thank you
There's no Societies Officer at the moment... Josh Heald: Come and talk to me.

Sophie Godfree: It's only for £50 so it's been passed by Finance Committee already. Taken on a general aye.
Motion text
Katie Wray: this has been passed by Finance Committee; this is a window seat, not a cushion; we are not spending £95 on a cushion. It fits H&S legislation. It will be washable. There will be Velcro to stop people from moving it. Yeah. If I ring the man tomorrow it should be in next week. Any questions? Ben Harrison: There's been a lot of complaints about damage such as cigarettes; is it worth spending money on it if it's going to be damaged? Katie Wray: Yeah. It will be fireproof anyway Ben Salter: More ashtrays would help in the DVD room. Taken on a general aye.
Motion text
Adam Crudgington: We need some money to go away; it's cheaper than last year, we're staying in a camping barn. Ben Harrison: Last year, it was noted that it was more expensive than in previous years. It was mandated to make it lower cost this year. Adam Crudgington: This isn't fancy; we're staying in a camping barn, not even a youth hostel. We're getting reps to pay for their food. Sophie Godfree: any questions? Taken on a general aye.

an Kent: Erm. Basically this is asking for some money for a Cranmer Leavers' Event. We only have 2 formal events in a year, and this one is a chance for us to say goodbye to leavers, their families etc. This year it has particular significance as we're losing members of staff and the Principal. Sophie Godfree: any questions? Taken on a general aye.
Motion text
Alice: It's at Lumley Castle, people can't walk. Read it. It's been approved by Finance Committee. Taken on a general aye.

Josh Heald: Ok, to introduce the motion. We've been given this great space above the nursery in the Crossgate Centre. College are paying to do work to it to give us a shop and so on. We need someone to look after it. The point of this motion is in the end to get an officer of some kind to look after the space. We have two options and the exec couldn't decide either way... it's a big position; there are currently issues of representation on the Exec with regard to livers-out, and we have a small exec, but the exec does work well and the SMG officer would go under other Exec members' remits. Since it's such a big role it needs good communications with the JCR by having them report to JCR and Exec meetings each term in the first option. I'll leave Sophie to explain how this is going to work, but you have two options: either an Exec position or reporting to the JCR. Then we'll decide whether or not we even want the position. Phil Wallbridge: How will this person liaise with the Livers-Out officer? Josh Heald: They won't be necessarily responsible to the Livers-Out officer. They're running a space. We might like a drop in office in the space where the Livers-Out officer could meet people. If they're not on exec or indeed regardless, they are still likely to speak to the LO officer. Phil Wallbridge: can we give them an assistant? it is a big job. Josh Heald: It would need another motion. If you want to propose it then do. Ben Harrison: Would this result in the SMG House Rep going? Josh Heald: That's a representative on a commmittee rather than anything else. There's a laundry rep too, but it depends on whether this is exec or not. Ben Harrison: I see an overlap with other exec positions: This has an overlap with Services. The last 7 Services Managers have lived out, and I reckon that this is most representative of livers out. With this there will be a requirement that they live in SMG. Tom Bristow: How is it going to work? Who will lock up? Josh Heald: It will be 24 hour access, with either an Assa Key or a Swipe Card. If it's on the JH Exec, how could you make it be representative to MCR? JH: Making it it JJ is very difficult. The direct lines of communication are through JH. Quite a lot of us live in Margarets. JH: But then you might end up with someone not in the JHJCR sitting on the JH Exec. We could go for something similar to what the DSU rep is currently; he is supposed to sit on your exec as well. Alison Dancer: I've been living out for two years. I don't feel represented by the Execs anyway. I think it's putting too much emphasis on Margaret's. You risk making SMG the be all and end all of it. If you're representing people in SMG it would be nice to have someone else as well. Adam Crudgington: It's quite a big motion to pass. Do you think that it is justifiable to put it before this meeting? JH: If it goes to the Exec role, it needs to be passed at 2 execs. Phil Wallbridge: Can we vote on a postponement? JH: The reason I would suggest not doing that is because of timescale and in order to get the person elected for the summer., whether they're on exec or not, it needs to be passed at this meeting. After the next meeting they will either be made exec or left as they are. We definitely need to have someone in place ready for when people move into Margaret's Will Holloway: if people do have a real problem with it they can't get elected until the next meeting, so surely people could come to the next meeting and vote it down. JH: Yes, but if it's not exec it'll be created immediately. JH: Phil, you can suspend it. Sarah Dewhurst: Why's it such a big job? JH: They have to manage, staff, and arrange stock for the shop. It's basically selling everything that the JCR shop sells. SD: Like another Services Manager? JH: Yeah, plus other things. Generally look after the space. SG: Any more questions? Sophie Loewendahl: Would they be responsible for organising events? JH: They'd liaise with other groups, but wouldn't organise them themselves. Chris Leach: The communal area sounds great. Is there any reason that it's not coming before a JCR meeting. JH: It's not really a JCR decision that we get the space. There was a lot of bargaining with College over what space we'd get. SG: IS there any formal opposition to the motion? I'd like to propose an amendment to Option B. JH: A proposition that mirrors the Senior DSU Rep. Amendment taken on a General Aye Vote on Options: RESULT: Option A: 25 Option B: 2 Abstentions: 11 The motion was taken on a General Aye
Sophie Godfree: This is for the poor students abroad. Katie Wray: To allow 4th years a return place in college. It's not necessarily going to take spaces off people who need them.
Ratified by General Aye
End of JJCR Meeting at 20:55
Ben Salter husted on Tom's behalf. I believe I have the necessary experience. I was Managing Director in a Young Enterprise, which would help me. My experience as a RAF officer cadet would also help me. In addition I'm willing to give my time to build upon the great social events already happening in college.

I've been VC this year. Raised a large amount of money this year. Vote for me. Ben Harrison: Any ideas for fundraising events? James: Perhaps bar quizzes... video nights... Josh Heald: Do you plan on doing more in DUCK week? It's seen as something that's a little under-covered in college. I might extend it over 2 weeks, because it gets quite intense in John's as it's a small college if it's only 1 week. Ben: Will you make more cool ducks. James: err... Sophie Godfree: Any Questions?

Phil Wallbridge: If we've already voted, do we need to vote again? Sophie Godfree: No Josh Heald: We are allowed to re open the ballot boxes once and that's what we're doing.
Unknown voice in meeting: Can we congratulate Rachel James on being Vice Chair for the meeting. Phil Wallbridge: I've lost two sandwich boards. Dan Baxter: Buy Beer.
