I’m Hannah Wells, John’s Sports Office 2009-10.
I will be going into my third year at John’s, finishing my BA in Sport. I’m a netballer by trade, playing for the uni but I love pretty much any sport, to an extreme that somehow I decided rowing for johns and getting up a 6am would be fun. Of course it is and I’m hooked for life! John’s has a very proud sporting tradition, competing to a high level and offering opportunities in all major games and quite a few minor ones, considering its size. As sports officer my job is to maintain this high profile encouraging as many people as possible to take part at whatever level, whether that’s competitive or just for fun. I’m also John’s representative to the Durham University Athletics Union (DUAU) when needs be and have the lovely responsibility of keeping all our team captains in check and in the know. However one of my most important tasks is to help organise the sporting extravaganzas and ego boosting “John’s Chad’s Day”, where we play and beat St Chad’s College (who are actually quite good and very friendly) at a whole host of sports over 2 days after exams. But if you have any sport related questions please direct my way I shall only be too please to help. johns.sports@durham.ac.uk
